Empire Accounting & Tax Service is owned by Cynthia L. MacIntosh, E.A., A.B.A. It began in 1990 to offer a different, user-friendly accounting service and to assist small to medium size business owners maximize profits and minimize taxes. With this philosophy, the firm has grown to its current size and is proud of its accomplishments and clientele.
Cynthia L. MacIntosh, A.B.A., E.A.
Cynthia is the owner of Empire Accounting & Tax Service. After attending Valparaiso University, she completed her course of study at Elmhurst College and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1986. After graduating, she held positions in the private sector as a project accountant for a real estate development firm, a portfolio manager for a mortgage brokerage firm, and an Assistant CFO for one of the larger savings and loans in the Chicagoland area.
To fulfill a long time dream of having her own accounting firm, Cynthia started her own practice in 1990. Her husband, James MacIntosh, joined the firm in 1992. Together, they have enjoyed working with their diverse clientele and have built the firm on personal attention to their clients´ needs.
Mrs. MacIntosh is been a member of the Independent Accountants Association of Illinois(IAAI), a statewide organization with local chapters, since 1990. She has held several offices at the local and state level. In 2010, she was elected the 61st President of the IAAI. She has also been a member of the National Society of Accountants(NSA) since 1990.
She attained her designation as Accredited Business Accountant in 1991 and she became an Enrolled Agent in 2012. Both of these designations have helped Mrs. MacIntosh serve her clients in all financial matters. She can also represent them before the Internal Revenue Service.
Cynthia is married to James and has two stepchildren and one grandchild.
James F. MacIntosh, IV, A.B.A., A.R.A.
James F. MacIntosh, IV was born and raised in Gary, Indiana. After attending the University of Notre Dame, he received his degree from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. He joined the Mutual of New York(MONY) management trainee program in 1970. After completing the program, he became a sales manager. Before moving on to a new challenge, Jim received MONY´s prestigious Top Salesman award and became a member of MONY´s Top 50 Salesmen. Jim earned the Certified Life Underwriter(CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant(ChFC) designations and was a member of the Life Underwriters Association.
After 20 years in the insurance industry, Jim joined his wife´s accounting practice. He developed the systems and marketing strategy for the firm. He has been a member of the Independent Accountant´s Association of Illinois(IAAI) since 1991 as well as the National Society of Accountants(NSA). He has held various offices for the local chapter of IAAI and sits on the Board of Directors for that state organization. He also has earned the industry professional designations of Accredited Business Accountant(ABA) and Accredited Retirement Advisor(ARA).
Away from business, Jim sits on the Board of Directors and is Treasurer of Farm Friends, NFP. This is a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing services to children with disabilities. Jim resides in St Charles, Illinois with his wife, Cindy. He has two children and one grandchild.
